Smuggler's Den

(Ghost of Tsushima Level Prototype)

Smuggler's Den is a personal project I developed during Blocktober 2021 with the goal of creating a level based on the game 'Ghost of Tsushima'. The result was this level, set in an old smuggler's den on the coast of Tsushima that has been occupied by the Mongolian army from the game.

Key Points:​

  • Very quick rough sketch to get general layout for the level down before starting blockout.

  • Final layout altered slightly to allow multiple approaches to the level.

  • Inspired by the 'Umugi Cove' area in Ghost of Tsushima.

  • Developed for Blocktober 2021.

  • Enemies in Yellow wield melee weapons such as swords/spears, enemies in blue wield ranged bows.

  • Tall Pampas Grass lie scattered throughout the area for the player to hide in.

  • White footholds and posts lie on walls for the player to climb up or use their grappling hook on.

Key Points:​

  • Both Stealth and Aggressive approaches are possible.

  • Multiple entrances into the camp provide different opportunities for the player.

  • Verticality provides vantage points for the player to survey the area or snipe with the bow.

  • Open camp space provides a good area for close combat.

  • Climbable Mongolian huts allow more possible survey points for the player, at the cost of being less stealthy.

  • Enemies can get weapons from weapon racks - player can also loot these for ammunitions.
