Nature Reserve

(Last Of Us Level Prototype)

Nature Reserve is a personal project I developed with the goal of creating a level based on the game 'The Last of Us'. I set out to create a location unique to the game, narratively one based in a nature reserve for various plants that was once a safe haven, now filled with clickers and the infected.

Key Points:​

  • This is the former entrance to the Nature Reserve, that was taken over by an enemy group of survivors, now destroyed by a group of infected.

  • Lots of unique cover opportunities here, from the tall and short grass, to stands equipped with supplies, and even cages where unfortunate captives had nowhere to run when infected came.

  • The dark/light shades of green represent tall and short grass that player can hide in through crouching and crawling.

  • Objects in blue are cover points for the player.

  • Objects in purple contain ammo and supplies.

  • Objects in orange are points of interest to the player that triggers lines of dialogue.

Key Points:​

  • This is the interior of the entrance lobby to the Nature Reserve. Enemy survivors lived in this building and tried to board it all up when the infected came.

  • Player has to crawl and crouch through this building infested with Clickers and Infected.

  • In order to reach the fire exit on a collapsed upper floor, the player much find the ladder amongst the clickers and set it up to climb up there.

  • Enemies in red are the Infected.

  • Enemies in green are Clickers.

  • Final establishing shot of two large dome biomes in the Nature Reserve, with a flock of birds flying out of the larger one to indicate to the player to make their way there.
